Senior Nuclear Engineer

Job Summary
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team developing precision mechatronic examination systems for inspecting irradiated fuel from the fleet and the Advanced Test Reactor.
As an Electrical Engineer in the Examination Design Projects subdivision, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of fully engineered equipment and systems, from requirements development and concept design through hardware delivery.
Your specific tasks will include research and development of novel technologies, proof of principle testing, design of and integration with motion control system elements, and testing.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and software engineers, test sponsors, and operations personnel at NRF to deliver cutting-edge solutions to the challenges associated with examining spent nuclear fuel and performing irradiations testing.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or
- Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified; or
- EDO qualified and 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- 3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only); or
- SRE qualified and 6 years of experience.

Pay Range
$92, $145,200.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
