Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Project Specialist to join our team at WSP USA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, energy, and climate change, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.

The successful candidate will support our client-facing team in the design, implementation, and management of sustainability and resilience programs for a variety of clients, including Global 100 corporations.

The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams.

Candidates should be passionate about sustainability and climate resilience, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop entity-wide sustainability data inventories and/or life cycle assessments for energy, GHG, water, waste, and other resources
  • Conduct verifications of entity-wide inventories for energy, GHG, water, waste, and other resources
  • Design sustainability or climate risk management performance targets with accompanying strategies and achievement plans
  • Identify and evaluate tactics and measures for achieving energy, GHG, and other resource reductions
  • Analyze energy efficiency measures and renewable energy procurement options
  • Conduct climate- and water-related risk and opportunity assessments
  • Research sustainability programs and initiatives
  • Produce sustainability reports, disclosures, and other communications
  • Support business development activities with existing and prospective clients
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or environmental discipline required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas crisply and compellingly through Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to design, conduct and present quantitative analysis, using tools that may include Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI
  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or environmental discipline
  • Demonstrated familiarity with sustainability issues and frameworks such as supply chain management, circularity, LCA, CDP, GRI, TCFD, and/or the GHG Protocol
