Product Development Manager

A challenging opportunity has arisen for a Product Manager to lead the product line through an exciting growth journey at ABB. As a key member of the team, you will be accountable for the long-term profitable growth and marketing of the ABB Low Voltage Busway offering to target market segments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the product line through all its life cycle phases, according to market needs and Portfolio Group strategy and targets.
- Own the technical and market specification for the product and determine a product business plan that supports sustainable growth.
- Lead the life cycle management process, analyzing current product, defining and tracking performance metrics, planning appropriate measures, and making decisions on product obsolescence and end-of-life.
- Set targets and monitor product costs, providing inputs to Operations to maximize competitiveness and profitability.
- Define product customer value proposition per segment and channel and ensure clear communication to channels and users.
- Ensure correct pricing is applied for all countries, products within relevant business area.
- Develop and maintain a global reference list price structure appropriate to both ABB internal product positioning strategy and competitor offerings.
- Initiate and drive cross-functional and cross-organization product and solution innovation teams, monitor development of all standards and market trends, and provide inputs to Research & Development for patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection.
- Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, and directed, building an effective, capable, and high-performing organization.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in engineering required or 4-year degree in Engineering (in Electrical (BSEE) preferred) with 10 plus years of experience in Product Management.
- Proven experience in product management, product marketing, or adjacent product functional roles.
- Strategic thinking, able to analyze and manage complex business situations.
- Strong analysis skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills.
- Unrestricted availability for international travel.
- Strong team building and networking capability; assertiveness and ability to work in a virtual team.
- Knowledge of ANSI/NEMA Products and Systems, focus on LV switchgear industrial & commercial market segments preferred; knowledge of legacy GE/ABB products preferred.
- Experience with customer relations via service, visits, relationships, etc.
- Proven intercultural competence and international experience/global mindset.
- Leadership and people management experience.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
