About the Job:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy environment by performing assigned cleaning tasks in a timely and efficient manner. This includes sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing of fixtures, as well as cleaning bathrooms and other areas of the facility.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of floors, as well as dusting and polishing of fixtures.
  • Clean facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, and halls, utilizing buffers, scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaning equipment as necessary.
  • Wash bed frames, brush mattresses, and remake beds after discharge of clients, when applicable.
  • Keep utility and storage rooms in neat and orderly conditions.
  • Operate commercial washers and dryers, and launder soiled linens as directed.
  • Attend to infection control standards, transport soiled linen to storage area, and distribute laundered articles and items.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors, taking care to avoid slips and falls.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, and dust furniture and equipment.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empty wastebaskets, transport trash and waste to disposal area, and disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies.
  • Conduct daily checks of cleaning cart and linen supply closet to determine inventory of supplies, and maintain adequate cleaning supplies for department/unit use.
  • Properly clean and store all equipment and supplies after each shift.
  • Practice standard/universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including instructions upon MSDS for materials encountered during task completion.
  • Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for facility functions.
