Job Overview

Under the direct guidance of anatomical pathology leadership, the incumbent will engage in all facets of standard histology to prepare patient tissue specimens for the Pathologist's microscopic evaluation, facilitating accurate diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

1. Efficiently processes surgical specimens by managing the loading, unloading, and programming of tissue processors.

2. Embeds tissue samples in accordance with departmental protocols, ensuring proper orientation.

3. Prepares high-quality slides following established microtomy procedures.

4. Conducts routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining and various special stains, utilizing both automated and manual techniques.

5. Accurately enters specimen information into the Laboratory Information System.

6. Capable of performing frozen section procedures as required.

7. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments, including but not limited to tissue processors, stainers, coverslippers, microtomes, computers, and printers.

8. Completes quality control reviews of microscopic slides.

9. Undertakes ancillary tasks such as filing, cleaning, and managing inventory of laboratory supplies.

10. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the laboratory operations.
