Job Summary

Oxy is seeking an experienced Inventory Growth Engineer to join our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating well inventory improvement opportunities in the Permian Resources, Midland Basin portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to frame multiple trades, sales, and/or development scenarios and calculate associated economics, reserves, and potential risk in production and cash flow.
  • Collaborate with the Appraisal, Development, Geology, and Well Analysis and Design groups to understand resource potential in a given asset.
  • Initiate and/or support evaluation of acreage trades, sales, and purchases to improve Oxy's ownership positions.
  • Responsible for economic evaluations of non-operated projects.
  • Understand competitor activity, development plans, and technical strategies around Midland Basin assets.
  • Identify opportunities for data trades and well trials to improve subsurface understanding and increase well economics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening/presentation).
  • Skillful in economic software packages (PEEP/Enersight/Aries/Mosaic).
  • Understanding of a variety of types of land/lease requirements and details.
  • Understanding of typical oil and gas deal structures.
  • Exceptional understanding of economics, economic drivers, and business acumen.
  • Exceptional integration, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Understanding of unconventional reservoir engineering workflows.
  • General understanding of reserves booking in unconventional reservoirs.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and risk tolerance.
  • Multi-tasking and problem solving with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on projects with a high degree of uncertainty.
  • Ability to interact effectively with team members, other departments, and working interest partners.
  • Basic understanding of well construction and surface facilities.
  • Basic understanding of artificial lift systems and operations.
