ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a dedicated DevOps Engineer who is enthusiastic about creating resilient applications utilizing the Java ecosystem, event-driven microservices, and industry best practices. You will collaborate with a dynamic team on a groundbreaking project that encompasses the complete delivery of innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will thrive in an Agile environment, engaging in story planning and daily standups, while playing a pivotal role in collaborative project teams and contributing to the design and development of critical enterprise systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the common application development platform across multiple deployments within the organization and client networks.
  • Design, implement, and test Infrastructure as Code (IAC) modifications to address necessary changes or fixes.
  • Review and enhance existing infrastructure services, including coding, testing, debugging, and installation within a large-scale ecosystem.
  • Prepare effort estimates for application development and execute approved changes, prioritizing tasks and facilitating peer reviews.
  • Analyze user requirements to establish business objectives.
  • Define application goals and ensure designs align with business strategies.
  • Maintain documentation updates for configuration records and related management tools.
  • Prepare and release software components.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, exploring alternatives and technologies for architectural review.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in design and programming with Java/Spring/REST/Microservices or relevant infrastructure operations.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IAC) automation using Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Familiarity with messaging and event streaming systems (e.g., JMS, Kafka).
  • Basic understanding of RESTful web services and scalable application design principles.
  • Skilled in creating database schemas that support business processes.
  • Working knowledge of JVM and its operational nuances.
  • Experience with version control tools and build frameworks like Git and Maven.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as FluxCD.
  • Experience in a Public Sector environment with IL2/5 requirements.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate or similar certifications.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with U.S. Public Sector clients, including DHS or DOD.
  • Possession of a DoD Security Clearance.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position follows a traditional Monday to Friday schedule, but due to the nature of our operations, on-call support may be required outside of regular hours, including weekends and holidays, on a rotational basis. Additional compensation may be provided for on-call duties.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

This position requires completion of a State and Federal Criminal History Report and may necessitate a Department of Defense security clearance. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these requirements.
