Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to join our team at UMC Health System. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for managing in-network and out-of-network accounts, ensuring compliance with third-party payer rules and regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of patient accounts, including billing and payment information
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to resolve billing and payment issues
  • Utilize computer systems and software to process and manage patient accounts, including mainframe computer skills and basic accounting and clerical skills
  • Identify and resolve billing and payment discrepancies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required; some college preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
  • Basic accounting and clerical skills, with the ability to learn and utilize computer systems and software
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex billing and payment issues
