Avionics Hardware Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we are pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Avionics Hardware Engineer III, you will play a critical role in designing and developing the electrical systems that will enable our spacecraft to safely and efficiently transport humans and cargo to space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the design of digital and analog circuits for avionics systems, including sensors and electromechanical/electrohydraulic actuators.
  • Own the design and development of electronic hardware assemblies, from concept to production, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Support avionics controller architecture trade studies, analyses, and performance characterization.
  • Participate in program-level technology development, mission assurance, and safety initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Familiarity with common communication methods, such as RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, or PCIe.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 7-10 years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems.
  • Basic or better knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applications.
