Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant

Position Overview:
The Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in supporting the interdisciplinary team under the guidance of a registered nurse. This position is focused on delivering personal care that addresses the unique needs of patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity during their end-of-life journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care tasks promptly upon receiving patient assignments, ensuring timely and respectful service.
- Maintain open and ethical communication with patients and their families, upholding confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure patient safety through the proper use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
- Assist with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and oral care, as directed.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Support patients with dressing, meal planning, and feeding as required.
- Accurately take and document vital signs, demonstrating competency in these essential skills.
- Monitor and care for patients' skin to prevent breakdown, reporting any changes to the Case Manager.
- Assist with mobility and positioning, performing range of motion exercises as ordered.
- Support patients with self-administered medications in accordance with state regulations.
- Provide respite care for patients and their families, offering support during challenging times.
- Adhere to all documentation and care standards, participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Active CNA License in good standing.
- Completion of a minimum of 75 hours of training in an approved program.
- At least 18 years of age with the ability to follow written instructions.
- Empathy and understanding of hospice care philosophies.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
