Role Summary:

The Ballistics Quality Technician I plays a crucial role in the visual and dimensional inspection, as well as performance testing of ammunition. This position adheres to established control and testing protocols while supporting various departments including R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Assurance. The technician will utilize foundational knowledge of firearms and ammunition components to ensure product integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct basic ballistics testing in alignment with control plans and industry standards, including chamber pressure, velocity, and other performance metrics under supervision.
  • Implement the Red Tag process to report any nonconformities to management promptly.
  • Review production Bills of Materials to verify component accuracy and effective lot numbering.
  • Perform range inspections as directed, following established procedures.
  • Participate in testing activities at various locations, which may involve interaction with government representatives.
  • Engage in workplace organization initiatives and maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety and ISO standards.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as an essential function of the role.
  • Be flexible to work in different areas or shifts as required by business needs.
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; no prior experience necessary.
  • Basic skills in reading drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data analysis techniques; knowledge of Oracle EBS is a plus.
  • Ability to achieve range certification within the first year and understand relevant testing standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Proactive in assisting colleagues while managing assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Capable of notifying leadership regarding any challenges that impede task completion.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing setting.
  • Majority of work involves standing for extended periods, with breaks provided.
  • Shifts may vary in length, including 8, 10, or 12 hours.
  • Physical demands include lifting and moving materials up to 40 pounds, as well as frequent bending and reaching.
  • Must demonstrate fine motor skills and the ability to operate tools and machinery safely.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
  • Compliance with environmental health and safety training is mandatory.
