Role Summary: The Quality Inspector is tasked with overseeing the quality assurance processes for ammunition components, emphasizing metallurgical measurements such as hardness and grain size. This role involves conducting various inspections throughout the production cycle using both traditional and advanced metrology techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize specialized inspection tools, including profilometers and hardness testers, to ensure product integrity.
  • Collaborate with production teams to interpret inspection data and address any discrepancies.
  • Document product issues and manage material movements within the company’s operating system.
  • Provide analytical support to the Material Review Board (MRB) to facilitate issue resolution.
  • Implement efficient inspection methods to maintain production flow.
  • Engage in corrective action processes to address deficiencies in both receiving and in-process inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding quality issues and corrective measures.
  • Continuously seek improvements in work processes to enhance quality and productivity.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Secondary Duties:

  • Conduct ammunition testing to comply with industry standards.
  • Manage hazardous material disposal in accordance with company protocols.
  • Participate in teams focused on resolving quality failures and preventing customer issues.
  • Engage in workplace organization initiatives to maintain a clean and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

  • 0-1 years of relevant experience or training; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection techniques and measuring devices is essential.
  • Understanding of metallurgical testing and equipment is advantageous.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is preferred.
  • Basic statistical knowledge and familiarity with measurement systems analysis are beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems is a plus.

Working Environment:

  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing setting.
  • Primarily standing for the duration of the shift, with scheduled breaks.
  • Physical demands include lifting materials up to 40 pounds and frequent movements.
  • Must adhere to safety protocols and wear necessary personal protective equipment.
