We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Laborer to join our team at the Town of Burlington, MA. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for operating heavy and specialized equipment, performing manual labor, and assisting in various public works projects.
Key Responsibilities- Operate specialized and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, basin cleaners, and street sweepers.
- Perform manual labor incidental to the work of operating assigned equipment, including loading and unloading trucks, picking up and hauling materials.
- Assist in emergency highway and other public works repairs, including snow removal and sanding operations.
- Perform laborer's duties when not assigned to equipment operation, including operating hand tools, mowers, jack hammers, air compressors, clippers, cutting tools, and related equipment.
- Must possess a CDL Class B License.
- Must possess a Hoisting License 1B, 2A, 4E, and 4G.
- Ability to operate trucks with a rated capacity of more than three tons up to nine tons.
- Ability to operate hoisting equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, and catch basin machines.
- Must be available for emergency snow removal and able to plow and sand roads.
- Full-time union position with 40 hours per week.
- Pay range within Group 86 of the DPW contract starts at $29.78/hr, providing annual salary increases to a maximum rate of $42.35/hr.
