The Town of Burlington is seeking a skilled individual to perform manual work related to the operation of heavy and specialized public works equipment. Under the direction of the Superintendent of the Highway Division, the selected candidate will assist in various public works projects, including maintaining and repairing streets, installing, cleaning, and repairing culverts, catch basins, and drainage lines, sweeping streets and sidewalks, and repairing guardrails and signs.

Key responsibilities include operating specialized and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, basin cleaners, and street sweepers, performing manual labor incidental to the work of operating assigned equipment, servicing and maintaining equipment, operating snow removal and sanding vehicles, and assisting in emergency highway and other public works repairs.

The ideal candidate will possess a CDL Class B License, a Hoisting License 1B, 2A, 4E, and 4G, and have the ability to operate trucks with a rated capacity of more than three tons up to nine tons. Additionally, the candidate should be able to operate hoisting equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, and catch basin machines, 125 CFM compressors, sidewalk rollers, highway sanders, and similar equipment used in Public Works construction and maintenance.

This is a full-time union position within the Department of Public Works bargaining unit, offering a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for overtime.
