Job Summary:
The Vascular Institute of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Patient Service Coordinator to join our team. As a Patient Service Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our outpatient facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional patient service, ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain current patient information from established and new patients.
- Accurately enter and update patient information in our practice management system.
- Identify payer source, verify insurance eligibility, and assign correct pay type.
- Assist patients with completion of paperwork when necessary.
- Note patient arrival in Electronic Health Record.
- Accurately pre-screen medical records, note patient allergies on chart and armband.
- Print schedules for upcoming appointments.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations for dates of service.
- Attach needed updated demographics and consent forms to patient charts.
- Schedule appointments.
- Identify patients by date of birth and name in computer system.
- Create new account if patient not in the system.
- Schedule and re-schedule appointments as needed.
- Call No Show appointments to reschedule, make appropriate notations in HER.
- Perform prescreening process for add-on appointments.
- Routinely demonstrate superior customer service skills.
- Answer telephone in a timely and polite manner, within three rings.
- Communicate in a courteous, professional, cooperative, and mature manner.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to violent/abusive situations, bomb threats, fire, and emergency situations.
- Accurately take messages and convey information to recipient.
- Transfer call to physicians/nurses and all other staff when indicated.
- Protect/observe patient confidentiality per policies and procedures.
- Scan information into Electronic Health Record.
- Categorize, date, and label loose medical documents.
- Scan loose medical documents per protocol.
- Accurately import registration documents into patient's electronic health record.
- Demonstrate the ability to collect office charges, post charges to patient accounts, and accurately manage cash drawer.
- Accurately reconcile charges for the day.
- Correctly prepare daily batch reports/encounters for the Center Manager.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Office experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
- Translation for patient and provider necessary.
- Technology Skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of current office equipment/software.
