Position Summary

The primary role involves the collection and analysis of various recordings and measurements related to the electrical activity of the central and peripheral nervous systems. The Surgical Neurophysiology Specialist plays a crucial role in providing monitoring data that aids in the localization of critical anatomical structures and nervous system tissues, utilizing advanced mapping techniques. Responsibilities also include staying updated with the latest advancements in neurophysiological monitoring techniques and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilization of knowledge in neuro-anesthesia and its implications for neuromonitoring.
  • Application of anatomical and neurophysiological knowledge relevant to the monitoring processes.
  • Staying informed on current practices in neuromonitoring through ongoing literature review and adherence to practice standards.
  • Execution of all necessary duties for multi-modality monitoring.
  • Fulfillment of continuing education requirements as mandated by relevant certification bodies.
  • Adherence to electrical safety protocols pertinent to the equipment and monitoring techniques employed.
  • Development of practice policies and protocols aligned with established standards of care from professional healthcare organizations.
  • Evaluation of intraoperative procedures in relation to monitoring orders, with proactive measures to address any deviations from established protocols.
  • Conducting duties in accordance with established laboratory protocols for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative procedures.
  • Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of current standards of care set by professional allied health organizations.
  • Reviewing and integrating relevant findings from current literature into practice.
  • Establishing and maintaining quality control measures for all monitoring activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in healthcare or a scientific discipline.
  • Certification as an EEG or EP technologist with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA and other regulatory standards, including meeting productivity benchmarks.
  • Capability to sit or stand for extended durations.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Proficiency in reaching tasks, including above and below shoulder height.
  • Frequent kneeling and crawling may be required.
Work Environment
  • This position is primarily based in an operating room setting.
  • Domestic travel may be required as part of the job responsibilities.
  • Must exhibit the ability to meet customer and third-party standards in performance.
  • Work conditions are typical of an operating room environment.
