This executive position is crucial in defining and advancing the scientific trajectory of our research endeavors, managing a team of proficient scientists, and propelling our pipeline of therapeutic candidates forward.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven history of leveraging a profound understanding of cancer biology and biological sciences to discover and advance molecules towards IND and optimal clinical development.
Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Team Development:
Direct, mentor, and lead a team of scientists and researchers within the Biology and Pharmacology division.
Encourage a collaborative and innovative research atmosphere that promotes creativity and scientific excellence.
Formulate and execute strategic plans for the department, ensuring alignment with the overarching goals and objectives of the organization.
Research and Innovation:
Supervise all biological and pharmacological research initiatives, ensuring adherence to scientific rigor and ethical standards.
Identify and prioritize emerging research opportunities and projects that resonate with the company's mission.
Drive the creation and validation of novel biological assays, technologies, and products.
In addition to strategic planning, actively participate in the advancement of research programs.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
Work in partnership with other departments, including Chemistry, Non-Clinical Development, CMC, Clinical, and G&A to ensure cohesive project development and execution.
Articulate research findings and progress to senior management, stakeholders, and external collaborators.
Represent the organization at scientific conferences, industry gatherings, and in scholarly publications.
Resource Management:
Effectively create and manage the department's budget, resources, and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 12 years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical sector, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
Comprehensive knowledge of current trends and advancements in biological sciences and biotechnology.
Strong expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, pharmacodynamics, and related fields.
Extensive familiarity with essential components of drug discovery, including drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and structural biology.
Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate effectively across various disciplines.
Experience with regulatory requirements and compliance within the biotech industry.
Experience in the dynamic environment typical of small biotech firms is preferred.
