Job Summary:

The Refinish Technician is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by delivering high-quality refinished repairs that meet or exceed customer expectations. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistent execution of quality standards and procedures
  • Provide positive energy and excellent customer service
  • Refinish vehicles to meet insurance guidelines and company quality standards
  • Inspect body and prep repairs for deficiencies that may impact the refinish process
  • Accountable for ensuring all required line items are completed to meet quality standards
  • Perform all refinish procedures according to factory specifications and company procedures
  • Ensure all paint deficiencies are corrected through wet sand and polishing
  • Maintain efficient paint material cost
  • Complete surface preparation, vehicle masking, priming, and top coating
  • Apply all primers, sealers, basecoats, color coats, and clear coats with correct formulations
  • Accurately mix paint to ensure quality color match
  • Notify the Repair Planner of any additional damage not appearing on the RO
  • Assist management in recommending and implementing new equipment
  • Know the status of assigned vehicles and help problem-solve on getting and keeping all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery
  • Utilize all required safety equipment and follow proper refinish procedures
  • Adhere to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal
  • Follow vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment
  • Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques
  • Complete the Quality Control Checklist before moving vehicles to the next department
  • Maintain a clean and orderly production area
  • Work in accordance with the daily production schedule
  • Advise the Production Supervisor of collision repair problems that may have been overlooked
  • Support all team members when required
  • Participate in monthly Health & Safety and staff meetings
  • Attend training, information sessions, and workshops recommended by the Store Manager
  • Maintain the Assured KPIs

  • Adhere to Assured's Policies and Procedures
  • Actively participate in daily production meetings with the Management Team

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years previous experience in a collision repair facility refinish role
  • Provincial College of Trades Member preferred
  • PPG Certification preferred
  • I-Car Registered (working towards Gold Class certification)

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of manufacturers' repair/refinishing processes and adherence to Assured's processes
  • Ability to use selected vendor materials and general supplies efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued learning by attending Assured/Industry-related training
  • Effective communication, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to interpret work scope from vehicle estimates or work orders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle repair practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating multi-tasking ability while working under pressure
  • Frequently required to bend, crouch, reach, handle tools, and lift approximately 51 lbs.
  • Must provide own tools
