Job Overview:

This position requires collaboration with team members to meet the key performance indicators (KPIs) of the repair facility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Implements the WOW (Wow Operating Way) strategy consistently.
  • Maintains a positive demeanor when engaging with customers and colleagues.
  • Executes refinishing tasks in accordance with insurance protocols and the quality benchmarks set by Gerber Collision & Glass.
  • Conducts inspections of body and preparation repairs to identify any issues that may affect the refinishing quality; informs the production supervisor as necessary.
  • Ensures completion of all required items as outlined in the Repair Orders (RO) to uphold Gerber's quality standards.
  • Adheres to factory specifications and company procedures during all refinishing processes.
  • Corrects any paint imperfections through wet sanding and polishing techniques.
  • Guarantees that all formulations, preparations, top coatings, and curing processes align with OEM recommendations for optimal application.
  • Manages paint material costs efficiently, in line with Gerber's KPIs.
  • Undertakes surface preparation, vehicle masking, priming, and top coating as necessary.
  • Applies primers, sealers, basecoats, color coats, and clear coats using the correct formulations per manufacturer specifications.
  • Accurately mixes paint to achieve the desired color match.
  • Promptly alerts the Repair Planner of any additional damages not documented in the RO.
  • Assists management in evaluating and implementing new equipment.
  • Keeps track of assigned vehicles and collaborates on solutions to maintain on-time delivery schedules.
  • Consistently uses all required safety gear and adheres to proper refinishing protocols in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Follows guidelines for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Maintains tools and equipment, including the upkeep of the paint booth and filters, according to vendor instructions.
  • Explains technical assessments and necessary repairs to non-technical individuals, including teammates and customers as needed.
  • Engages in continuous learning through formal training sessions to stay current with evolving automotive technologies.
  • Completes the Quality Control (QC) Checklist prior to transferring vehicles to the next department.
  • Ensures a clean and organized workspace throughout the day, concluding with a thorough cleanup.
  • Works according to the daily production schedule as directed by the Production Supervisor.
  • Notifies the production supervisor of any overlooked collision repair issues that may affect production.
  • Provides support to team members as needed.
  • Participates in monthly Health & Safety and staff meetings as required.
  • Attends training sessions and workshops recommended by management.
  • Maintains Gerber's KPIs (Sales/ GP/ NP/ CSI/ AR/ CT&TT).
  • Upholds Gerber's Core Values: Honesty, Integrity & Respect.
  • Complies with Gerber's Policies and Procedures as per established business practices.
  • Actively participates in daily production meetings with the Management Team as required.
  • Consistently demonstrates actions and behaviors that align with our "10 Promise".

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a collision repair facility in a refinishing capacity.
  • Membership in the Provincial College of Trades is preferred.
  • PPG Certification is preferred.
  • I-Car Registered (working towards Gold Class certification).

Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of manufacturers' repair/refinishing processes and adherence to company standards.
  • Ability to efficiently and cost-effectively utilize selected vendor materials and general supplies.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning through attendance at industry-related training.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret work scope from vehicle estimates or work orders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle repair practices.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating multitasking skills while working under pressure.
  • Frequently required to bend, crouch, reach, handle tools, and lift approximately 51 lbs.
  • Must provide personal tools.
