Job Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in coordinating and preparing accounting transactions and activities with assigned Corporate Accounting functions. This includes general ledger, intercompany transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgets, financial reporting, and other assigned accounting functions. The successful candidate will ensure the accuracy of balance sheet asset and liability accounts through reconciliation and identify and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prepare accounting transactions and activities with assigned Corporate Accounting functions
  • Conduct reconciliations of balance sheet asset and liability accounts to ensure correctness
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Responsible for fixed assets accounting for Independent Physician Management physician practices

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline
  • CPA and health care experience preferred
  • Five or more years' experience in general corporate accounting in a major accounting function such as General Ledger, Budget, Financial Reporting, AP, etc.
  • Prior experience in an accounting/financial capacity, preferably within a hospital setting
  • Experienced with information systems conversions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of general accounting concepts, practices, standards, principles, and activities related to one or more corporate accounting functions such as General Ledger, Budgeting, Financial Reporting, AP, etc.
  • Knowledge of applications such as Hyperion Enterprise, Pillar, and Crystal reporting

Skills:

  • Skill in collecting data and interpreting financial material
  • Skill in preparing statistical and narrative accounting and auditing reports
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Service-oriented/customer-centric

Unit Description:

The Senior Accountant coordinates and prepares the usual and customary accounting transactions and activities with assigned Corporate Accounting functions such as general ledger, intercompany transactions, AP, AR, budgets, financial reporting, or other assigned accounting functions in accordance with sound accounting standards, practices, and principles and company policies and procedures. Conducts reconciliations of balance sheet asset and liability accounts to ensure correctness. Identifies and resolves discrepancies The Senior Accountant is responsible for fixed assets accounting for Independent Physician Management physician practices.
