This is a part-time role that typically involves working fewer than 20 hours per week. The position may require on-site work or community engagement at participant residences. Work hours and days are variable, potentially including split shifts and weekends.

Summary

The Behavioral Support Technician will deliver clinical skills training and behavior modification strategies grounded in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children diagnosed with Autism and related developmental challenges, whether in a center, community setting, or home environment. The Technician will be responsible for data collection on programs and will collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team. The schedule, including days and hours, will be flexible. The Technician will report directly to the ABA Program Supervisor. The essential functions of this position are outlined below but may be adjusted at the discretion of Pioneer Resources, Inc. This job description provides an overview of key responsibilities but is not exhaustive of all tasks that may be assigned. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary.

Essential Functions

• Delivering services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, neurological conditions, or other developmental disabilities
  • Participating in activities related to the implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis, including but not limited to: observation, data collection, and execution of early intensive and other ABA interventions as specified in treatment plans.
  • Adhering to prescribed behavior skill acquisition and behavior modification protocols.
  • Collecting, documenting, and summarizing data on observable participant behaviors.
  • Assisting in training parents and caregivers in accordance with the participant's individualized treatment and behavior modification strategies.
  • Completing and maintaining accurate documentation within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Providing transportation to and from the center as required.
  • Ability to travel to participant homes and other community locations as directed by treatment plans.
  • Effectively communicating with the clinical team, parents, and caregivers regarding participant progress.
  • Collaborating with the treatment team, including participants, parents, clinical staff, and caregivers.
  • Maintaining and enhancing technical knowledge by attending mandatory training sessions.
  • Ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
  • Creating a warm and positive atmosphere for the participants served.
  • Demonstrating flexibility with scheduling, accepting sessions with minimal notice.

Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to read and write in English, and comprehend written instructions and record information.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team with intermittent supervision.
  • Ability to interact respectfully and courteously with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Completion of all required initial and ongoing training is mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with children or adults with developmental disabilities is required.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder and Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • This position requires driving. Individuals must possess a valid Michigan driver's license, have three (3) or more years of driving experience, maintain fewer than six (6) points, and have no exclusionary violations on their driving record.
  • Must successfully pass all required background checks, physical examinations, and drug screenings. If the background check reveals disqualifying information, employment may be terminated unless the disqualifying information is successfully appealed as inaccurate, expunged, or set aside.
Travel Requirements

Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Work Environment

This position involves close interaction with individuals. Moderate noise levels while working with participants can be anticipated. While most working hours are spent indoors in a residential or center environment, employees in this role may also work outdoors in all seasons for brief periods, such as assisting participants into vehicles, taking participants on outings, or performing snow removal tasks.

Physical Demands

Medium work. No more than 50 pounds with frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
