ROLE OVERVIEWUnder the supervision of the Pharmacy Director and guidance from the Pharmacy Business Manager, the Pharmacy Technician In-training supports Pharmacists in the process of filling and labeling prescriptions for patients, updating patient records, and ensuring precision in the prescription fulfillment process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.- Accurately inputs prescription orders into QS1.
- Updates patient profiles in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Efficiently counts and prepares prescriptions.
- Ensures that patients receive the correct medications.
- Responds to phone inquiries in a timely manner.
- Assists Pharmacists with various prescription-related tasks.
- Communicates with healthcare providers for prescription refills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medication brands, dosages, and indications to patients and staff.
- Processes payments for prescriptions.
- Possesses an understanding of medical terminology.
Maintains a professional demeanor, confidentiality, and a respectful attitude while interacting with colleagues, patients, and their families. Ensures a clean work environment, arrives to work on time, and fulfills all assigned responsibilities.
EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS- Enrollment in PSI's Pharmacy Technician Preparation Online Employer-based Training Program.
- Completion of the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam within 6 months of employment.
- Obtaining licensure within 1 year of employment.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and respect towards others.
- Demonstrates effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Meets productivity expectations and pays close attention to detail.
- Handles patient interactions with professionalism and remains focused despite interruptions.
- Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills and computer proficiency.
- Works collaboratively as part of a team, providing exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality and patience.
- Detail-oriented, adept at problem-solving, and efficient in work execution.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Enrollment in PSI's Pharmacy Technician Preparation Online Employer-based Training Program.
- Preferred familiarity with Computer and Medical Terminology.
