POSITION SUMMARY

The Healthcare Support Specialist role is essential in delivering both administrative and clinical assistance during patient interactions. This includes managing patient registration, gathering demographic and medical information, and facilitating patient check-out processes, all under the guidance of a healthcare provider.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively carry out the following duties:

  • Welcoming patients in a timely and professional manner;
  • Guiding patients through the registration process, which encompasses collecting necessary personal information, medical history, and obtaining electronic signatures;
  • Preparing patients for examinations by conducting preliminary assessments as required;
  • Communicating pertinent information to the healthcare provider;
  • Supporting the provider in delivering patient care as needed;
  • Performing scribe tasks when necessary;
  • Discussing treatment protocols with patients;
  • Assisting in the ordering of diagnostic tests and retrieving results;
  • Reviewing discharge instructions with patients;
  • Collecting patient payments and coordinating follow-up appointments as necessary;
  • Maintaining daily journal balances and closures when applicable;
  • Upholding confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations;
  • Executing additional responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are essential for successful performance in this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory;
  • Certification in Medical Assistance or a degree in a related field is preferred;
  • 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous;
  • Exceptional communication and customer service abilities;
  • Proficient data entry skills;
  • CPR/BLS certification is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This position is conducted in an office setting that ensures a safe working environment.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as required, with reliable transportation being essential.

Working hours are flexible between 7:45 AM and 5:30 PM, with 8-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week.
