High-Speed Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

At Infinera, we are seeking a highly skilled Mixed-Signal Design Engineer to lead the design efforts of high-speed low-noise clocking circuits, including fractional-N phase locked loops and clock distribution networks.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and technical expertise in designing and implementing high-frequency VCOs, clock distribution networks, and phase noise and jitter performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CMOS analog and mixed-signal design, with experience in designing low phase noise LC-VCO based PLLs and clock distribution networks in Cadence environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, simulate, and verify high-frequency fractional-N PLLs.
  • Architect, model, and simulate noise accumulation and skew of clock distribution trees.
  • Model, optimize, and measure phase noise and jitter performance, and skew of whole clocking networks.
  • Design and implement high-frequency / low-noise VCOs.
  • Collaborate and/or supervise other team members for system design implementation, layout floor planning, and system level modeling.

Mandatory Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Exposure in designing low phase noise LC-VCO based PLLs to production.
  • Abundant knowledge in design trade-offs among different VCO topologies for MM-Wave applications.
  • Hands-on experience in designing clock distribution network in Cadence environment.
  • Good at modeling phase noise and spurs of frac-N PLLs.
  • Possess extensive experience in designing and implementing high frequency VCOs and clock trees with EMX tools.
  • Decent understanding in CMOS analog / mixed signal design overall.

Preferred Knowledge/Skill/Abilities:

  • Good at supervising testing activities.
  • Fluent in verbal and written communications.
  • Independently resolves issues and conquer design challenges.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Education Requirements:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in E.E.
