Position Summary:
The Site Operations Manager embodies the core principles of Ownership, Trust, and Teamwork. This role demands a strong commitment to safety and effective team leadership. The Site Operations Manager will champion our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives, safeguarding employees, clients, and resources, ensuring all team members return home safely each day. This position is vital for achieving operational success through diligence, integrity, and personal and team development.

  • Assist the Area Manager and General Manager in overseeing your team of safety professionals.
  • Engage daily with all Area Staff, focusing on Continuous Improvement across all business functions.
  • Provide direct oversight for field teams.
  • Balance Field and Office Responsibilities; spending approximately 80% of time in the field and 20% in the office.
  • Prioritize safety, quality, training, employee engagement, and retention as key business objectives.
  • Safeguard the company’s workforce, clients, and assets against losses, injuries, and accidents by enforcing safe work practices.
  • Inspire, coach, and develop your team of safety professionals.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external clients to achieve objectives and explore new business opportunities.
  • Conduct field and vehicle inspections, participate in pre-bid meetings, and collaborate with clients in the field as necessary.
  • Ensure customer service matters are resolved swiftly and effectively while delivering exceptional service.
  • Assist in creating daily work schedules.
  • Monitor daily employee matters, including payroll, timekeeping, benefits, time-off requests, client issues, and training needs.
  • Facilitate team-building initiatives and maintain regular communication with team members.
  • Support the training of new and existing employees to minimize turnover, enhance efficiency, and reduce labor costs.
  • Obtain necessary certifications.
  • Become a subject matter expert in work zone setup/design and professional flagging.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A 4-year degree in a business-related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience managing teams of 20 or more individuals.
  • Ability and enthusiasm for engaging with field-level clients and contacts.
  • Exceptional verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Proactive in establishing work relationships with your team.
  • Contribute to the engagement and ongoing development of AWP Safety employees.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and customer relationship management systems.
  • Commitment to promoting safe workplace practices.
  • Valid Driver's License without any suspensions or revocations.
  • Flexibility in hours based on staffing needs and workload.
  • Typical workweek of 40+ hours.
  • Majority of time spent in field conditions.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, including adverse weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moving vehicles, as well as extreme conditions at construction sites.
  • Noise levels in the work environment can be elevated.
  • Position may require lifting or carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks under challenging field conditions.
