Tilcon Connecticut Inc., part of the CRH family, is a key player in the construction materials industry, operating from multiple locations across Connecticut. We specialize in providing high-quality crushed stone, hot mix asphalt, and ready mix concrete, contributing significantly to the development of infrastructure including roads, buildings, and bridges.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Utility Technician for our third shift operations at our quarry. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with team members and management. Our commitment to safety, quality, and integrity is paramount, and all employees are expected to actively engage in promoting our safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate maintenance equipment safely and efficiently, promptly reporting any issues to management.
- Conduct maintenance and cleaning of quarry equipment as necessary, including accessing elevated platforms.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks, handling materials weighing between 75 to 100 lbs.
- Engage in daily shoveling of sand, stone, and wet materials.
- Work at significant heights while adhering to safety protocols.
- Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Take direction from the foreperson regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
- Complete daily inspections and maintain documentation in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain a professional demeanor towards colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
- Adhere to scheduled work hours and be available for overtime as needed.
- Exhibit flexibility in scheduling to meet business demands.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strictly comply with safety procedures and requirements.
- Collaborate effectively within a team and assist others as required.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated in designated areas.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Trade or mechanical education is preferred.
- Experience in maintenance or mechanical roles is advantageous.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
The physical demands of this position include:
- Regularly required to communicate effectively.
- Frequent sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged durations.
- Specific vision capabilities including close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employees may encounter the following conditions:
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and varying weather conditions.
- Frequent outdoor work with exposure to noise and vibration.
- Moderate noise levels typical of a quarry environment.
