Job Overview

Proterial Cable America, Inc. is a prominent global provider of contract manufacturing services for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), focusing on the production of medical tubing and cables essential for various applications in surgical, vascular, endoscopy, and ultrasound devices. Position Summary

The Braiding Technician position is responsible for the operation of braiding machinery to maintain optimal production speed and efficiency within a controlled manufacturing environment. This role may involve exposure to moving mechanical components, fumes, and airborne particles, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment, including eye protection, hearing protection, goggles, safety boots, and gloves. Regular monitoring and maintenance of equipment are critical, and employees will participate in the company's Hearing Conservation Program, which includes annual hearing assessments.

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain braiding machinery
  • Adjust processes to improve quality and production output
  • Perform bobbin changeovers and resolve knot-up issues as necessary
  • Replace spools, remove completed products, and conduct line clearance tasks
  • Implement core changes and perform minor maintenance on machines
  • Utilize Smart Scope and/or vision systems for quality assurance checks
  • Input data into systems using scanning devices and computers
  • Complete required documentation and logs for job activities
  • Maintain a tidy work environment and assist in various line operations
  • May require working off-shifts or weekends based on operational needs
  • Frequently lift and carry items exceeding 100 pounds
  • Adhere to safety protocols and promptly report any issues

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of experience with braiding machines or comparable equipment
  • Ability to accurately follow directions and guidelines
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Capacity to work independently with sound judgment
  • High initiative with moderate supervision
