Job Title: Director, Accounting

MTF Biologics is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to lead our finance team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the General Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Analytical groups, ensuring the coordination of daily efforts, and providing timely, accurate, and compliant information for decision-making and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the activities of the General Accounting and Cost Accounting groups to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports.
  • Coordinate and complete the annual financial external audit.
  • Review the system of internal controls to ensure the integrity of the Foundations' financial statements and general ledger balances in accordance with GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Manage the financial relationship with all affiliates and external auditors.
  • Report the status of all financial investments to senior management and ensure compliance with related financial covenants.
  • Review data provided to outside lending institutions to demonstrate compliance with all debt covenants.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that support the Foundations' objectives while ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures.
  • Meet with other functional/departmental managers to understand operational development needs and ensure the accounting department is adequately serviced.
  • Assist with reviews of contracts entered into by the Foundation for their financial implications and requirements.
  • Oversee research of technical accounting issues to determine how to record transactions in accordance with GAAP.
  • Respond to VP and CFO with accurate and timely information regarding the Foundations' financial position and needs.
  • Approve decisions, requests, expenditures, and recommendations on behalf of senior management in their absence.
  • Makes decisions regarding new hires, terminations, and advancement opportunities for the General Accounting and Cost Accounting group.
  • Create performance reviews, goals, and objectives, as well as training plans addressing skill gaps for the Accounting staff.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of financial experience with progressively responsible roles in a management capacity. CPA required/MBA desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all accounting functional areas, GAAP, and GAAS, as well as external reporting requirements.
  • Individual must be well organized and self-motivated, able to handle multiple projects, and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Able to champion and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, including ERP systems, electronic data interface, Microsoft Office.
