Job Summary

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our scenic fabrication department, you will be responsible for the technical design and drafting of scenery, as well as coordination with the shop supervisor, purchaser, scenic charge, and other relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and draft scenery, including automation and FX systems, to meet the needs of our productions
  • Collaborate with the shop supervisor and purchaser to ensure timely and safe completion of projects
  • Develop and implement technical solutions that meet budgetary and timeline parameters
  • Work closely with the technical director to identify and resolve specific areas of concern
  • Provide clear communication with colleagues and promote training and safe practices among theater staff
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in scenic fabrication and technical direction
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities
