About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Outreach Specialist to join our team at the University of Washington Climate Impacts Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in communicating climate science and its impacts to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community groups.
  • Analyze and interpret climate data to inform communication efforts and provide technical assistance to external partners.
  • Collaborate with our team to develop and disseminate climate-related reports, publications, and educational materials.
  • Manage and maintain our social media presence, developing content and identifying opportunities to raise awareness about climate and its impacts.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing workshops and meetings to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in meteorology, climate science, or a related field with one year of experience.
  • Training in climate science or a related discipline.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in engaging with diverse audiences.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Experience synthesizing scientific research findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and insistence on technical accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Washington state's climate and climate-related resources.
  • Experience working in WordPress.
  • Experience with planning and executing scientific or public workshops.
  • Experience managing professional social media accounts.
  • Familiarity with co-producing research and tools/products.
