Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Purchasing Manager, this role is integral to the procurement process and is accountable for a variety of essential tasks:
  • Evaluates purchase requests by matching items needed against the master inventory; clarifies any ambiguities and suggests alternatives when necessary.
  • Maintains strong relationships with key vendors to ensure product quality, timely deliveries, and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Generates and submits comprehensive reports detailing financial metrics, purchasing expenditures, and other relevant data.
  • Coordinates the availability of inventory by verifying stock levels and scheduling deliveries accordingly.
  • Creates purchase orders by confirming specifications and pricing, while also seeking supplier recommendations for alternative products.
  • Secures ordered items by sending requests to suppliers and monitoring the progress of orders.
  • Confirms the receipt of goods by comparing delivered items against orders and resolving any discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Processes payments for purchases by forwarding necessary documentation upon receipt.
  • Provides insights into purchasing strategies by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Ensures organized documentation by sorting and filing relevant records.
  • Willingness to undertake job-related travel as required.
  • Attention to detail is crucial, particularly regarding deadlines and due dates.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.
  • Regular attendance is a fundamental requirement of this position.
  • Must consistently meet performance expectations during evaluations, with quality of work assessed through training and skill application.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess an Associate degree or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of three years in purchasing or material acquisition roles. A foundational understanding of accounting principles is necessary. Strong communication skills, proficiency in computer applications, and critical thinking abilities are required.
