Job Summary

Calpine Corporation, a leading generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources, is seeking a Business Development Representative to develop strategic relationships with commercial and industrial companies in need of our expertise, products, and services to enhance profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and grow relationships with targeted accounts to facilitate business acquisition and retention.
  • Identify, contact, and develop personal relationships with key buying influences within targeted accounts.
  • Consult with buying influences at multiple levels of client/prospect organization to identify strategic outcomes they are seeking to achieve.
  • Sell customer value propositions by collaborating with cross-functional internal teams to configure a process, product, and service solution that connects with each customer's needs.
  • Promote customer focus by collaborating internally and working as the customer champion in cross-functional teams to build strong external customer relationships.
  • Develop and implement relationship management plans for assigned customer accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision makers and influencers.
  • Qualify, negotiate, document, and close business with targeted accounts consistent with documented sales processes.
Requirements
  • Greater than 3 years of general work experience and a minimum of 2 years business development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Approximately 30% travel required.
  • Sales methodology expertise, including knowledge of Miller Heiman, Challenger, SPIN, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
