Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief Enrollment and Academic Officer, the Assistant Director of Placement plays a crucial role within the placement team. This position encompasses both internal and external responsibilities, contributing significantly to the operational success of the Admissions & Placement department.

The ideal candidate is driven by a passion for supporting underserved youth and their families, thriving in an innovative environment that values creativity and new ideas. They should possess a charismatic personality, outstanding interpersonal skills, and a genuine desire to assist others, as a significant portion of their time will be spent guiding individuals through various processes. Attention to detail, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively are essential. The role may require a flexible schedule, including working Tuesday through Saturday during peak periods and supervising students in a residential setting during summer programs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
  • 2-4 years of experience in student and family engagement within a nonprofit, K-12, or higher education context.
  • Comprehensive understanding of educational challenges faced by students of color.
  • Exceptional public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission of Oliver Scholars.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Familiarity with independent educational institutions.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Placement Advocacy: Build and maintain relationships with partner schools, advocate for applicants, and communicate with families regarding the placement process.
  • Consortium School Development: Assist in evaluating and cultivating relationships with Consortium Schools.
  • Student Support: Support summer and Saturday Academy classes, and assist in planning the Scholar Immersion Program.
  • Additional Duties: Collaborate with program directors on various initiatives and participate in organizational fundraising efforts.
Requirements
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a relevant setting.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to supervise students in a residential setting during summer programs.
  • Willingness to undergo a background check.
