Inventory Procurement Specialist I

Supporting the Procurement Planner in strategizing, forecasting, and managing inventory for the designated Business Unit, along with coordinating and scheduling workloads.
The role of the Inventory Procurement Specialist I also encompasses aiding in the acquisition of inventory items and accelerating purchase orders.
While the position is primarily based in Newton, NJ, there may be occasions where responsibilities require engagement at other Thorlabs facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement:
- Daily purchasing activities, expediting orders, and managing data
2. Planning:
- Daily printing, scheduling, and rescheduling tasks
- Calculating product availability and lead times
- Initiating and participating in procurement enhancement and cost-saving initiatives
- Generating special and periodic reports as needed
3. Inventory Management:
- Overseeing inventory control and planning (Safety Stock, forecasting, build/order size)
In addition to the essential functions outlined above, all positions are also accountable for:
Meeting the company’s standards regarding the quantity and quality of work consistently, and executing all tasks in alignment with Company policies and procedures.
The Company reserves the right to modify or assign additional duties to this position.
Physical Requirements:
This role necessitates the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, weighing up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year in a comparable and progressive role is preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Proficiency in ERP Systems and MS Office
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Capable of reading and interpreting documents such as procedure manuals, routine reports, and correspondence.
Skilled in creating documents as part of process enhancement
Experience in establishing bill of materials and manufacturing routes.
