Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Transport Communication Coordinator to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and directing the deployment of personnel and equipment in the UVA-Medical Transport Network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers involved in patient movement and medical center operations.
  • Understand and properly use all communication equipment and programs.
  • Maintain safety as a primary role throughout all aspects of transport team resource coordination and multi-mode tracking of transport assets.
  • Identify potential areas for improved care and interface effectively with peers and customers.
  • Perform mission-critical tasks in support of patient care, emergency response, and multi-departmental support.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a BLS EMS Education Program required.
  • Must obtain Advanced EMT certification within three years of hire.
  • Communications center experience and/or basic dispatcher course/dispatch experience preferred.
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
  • AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Physical Demands

The job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently typing/traveling and multi-tasking activities. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 20lbs. May be exposed to fumes, heat, noise, High-stress environment and environment prone to high-capacity sensory stimulation.
