About the Job

We are seeking a qualified Children's Program Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in a school-age care or youth development setting. This role will involve supervising and guiding school-age children, facilitating age-appropriate activities, and ensuring the overall safety and well-being of our students.

Responsibilities
  • Program Delivery: Actively participate in program delivery, ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe and engaging manner.
  • Facilitation: Facilitate age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in children.
  • Planning: Participate in planning student activities, taking into account the diverse needs and interests of our students.
  • Materials: Assemble materials for program activities, ensuring that all necessary resources are available.
  • Record Keeping: Assist in record keeping and documentation, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student progress.
  • Program Routines: Maintain program routines and schedules, ensuring that all activities are carried out on time.
  • Collaboration: Cooperate with all Youth Development staff to assist with maintaining program requirements.
  • Dispositions: Model positive dispositions, demonstrating a strong commitment to the well-being and education of our students.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues, ensuring that all parties are informed and engaged.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; six credit hours that includes child and youth development and other coursework related to school-age care programming; AA Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of eighteen months working with children in a school-age care or youth development setting.
  • Physical Demands: Lift, carry, and/or hold children up to 70 pounds.

  • Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Terms of Employment

As a member of our team, you can expect:

  • Employment Period: Nine (9) month positions.
  • Work Year: The salary and work year will be established annually by the Board of Education.
Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor, using the Independence Youth Development Staff Performance-Based Evaluation.
