This position requires availability to work during days, evenings, and weekends onsite.

Position Overview:

The Leavitt School of Health seeks Prelicensure Clinical Instructors (Hourly) who are experts in their fields to educate and mentor students during their hands-on clinical coursework in both remote and onsite settings. This faculty role adapts to the varying needs of students and facilities, focusing on providing specialized instruction in complex experiential and clinical tasks. The Clinical Instructor collaborates with a team to support a designated group of students, ensuring their success in clinical placements through effective oversight of their learning experiences.

Compensation Structure:
This role is compensated on an hourly basis, with payments made bi-weekly. Accurate and timely reporting of hours worked is required.

  • Facilitate appropriate referrals for student support as per WGU policies.
  • Collaborate with students' assigned coaches/preceptors to discuss progress and concerns.
  • Review and approve students' clinical hours upon completion.
  • Proactively support and reach out to assigned students.
  • Utilize technology-based platforms to enhance student competency development.
  • Submit electronic evaluations of students following clinical intensives.
  • Work with university colleagues to foster a positive, student-centered environment.
  • Adapt to changing requirements and priorities with urgency.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant state regulations.
  • Conduct evaluations of students through both in-person and remote methods.

Qualifications:

Minimum:
  • Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in relevant content areas.
  • Proven history of advancement and success in roles requiring collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Compliance with state and federal legislative requirements for credentialing.
Preferred:
  • Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with distance education and online learners.
  • Prior experience in clinical teaching or nursing education.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Adaptability to specific job requirements such as travel and work environment.

The salary range for this position considers various factors, including skills, experience, training, and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are based on individual circumstances.
