Position Overview
The Correctional Education Facilitator plays a crucial role in fostering a constructive and respectful environment that aids individuals in developing self-awareness, knowledge, and skills essential for reintegration into society. This position involves delivering educational services through structured programs focused on cognitive-behavioral therapy, substance abuse treatment, and workforce readiness for participants both within the correctional facility and at community transition centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Group Education Delivery: Conduct dynamic group sessions covering Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), substance abuse education, workforce readiness, and creative expression.
- Program Assessment: Evaluate the effectiveness of both in-custody and out-of-custody educational programs.
- Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive documentation of individual participant progress.
- Behavior Monitoring: Supervise participant conduct to ensure a safe and secure environment for all involved.
- Trauma-Informed Practices: Stay informed on trauma-sensitive and evidence-based facilitation techniques.
- Collaboration: Work alongside other teams to discuss participant progress and provide recommendations.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Familiarity with best practices in chemical dependency treatment and cognitive-behavioral programs.
- Experience in leading effective group sessions.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage challenging group dynamics.
- Empathy and cultural sensitivity to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Advocacy skills for the successful reintegration of individuals within the correctional system.
Work Environment
This role is primarily conducted within a correctional facility during educational sessions. The work schedule typically aligns with standard business hours, with some flexibility required.
