Position Overview

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is on the lookout for a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to enhance our dynamic design team.

As a member of the Power Conversion group, you will collaborate with fellow engineers to innovate cutting-edge power supplies and products for defense applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design power supply systems, including simulation, analysis, schematic design, component selection, and PCB layout.
  • Conduct technical trade studies and worst-case analysis.
  • Provide manufacturing support for hardware builds.
  • Develop Acceptance Test Procedures and perform initial hardware testing.
  • Engage in laboratory environments to support hardware production.
  • Lead engineering teams through the design, simulation, and testing phases of power supply projects.

The Principal Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for creating and developing power conversion architectures utilizing the latest technologies from leading manufacturers.

Collaboration with system, subsystem, and hardware engineers is essential to establish requirements, design new circuit topologies, and develop PCB layouts.

Designs will be validated through simulation, laboratory testing, and adherence to electrical and mechanical standards.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with no prior experience.
  • Experience in power supply circuit design, from schematic capture to testing and integration.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and debugging complex power systems.
  • Familiarity with circuit topologies and control techniques.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as SPICE and MathCad.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Secret clearance or higher.
  • Experience with circuit design tools and high-frequency magnetics.
  • Knowledge of power-related military standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership in hardware development teams.
