About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join our Power Conversion Technology design group at Northrop Grumman Corp. (AU). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art power supplies and power products for military applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop power supply systems, including simulation and analysis, schematic creation, component selection, and printed wiring board layout.
  • Perform technical trade studies to optimize power supply performance.
  • Conduct worst-case analysis and component stress analysis to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Provide manufacturing support for power supply builds, including developing Acceptance Test Procedures and performing first-piece hardware checkout/testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement power supply designs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar STEM degree, and 9 years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree with 7 years of relevant work experience, or Ph.D. with 4 years of practical work experience.
  • Familiarity with basic isolated and non-isolated circuit topologies and control techniques.
  • Experience with simulation tools, such as SPICE, LTSpice, and SABER, as well as MathCad.
  • Hands-on experience with power supply or power systems design and development.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Secret clearance (or higher).
  • Familiarity with power supply EMI/EMC filtering and design.
  • Digital control experience.
  • Active power factor correction design experience.
  • Magnetic component design experience.
  • High voltage design experience (up to 200 kV).
  • Working knowledge of power-related Mil-Stds for power quality and electromagnetic interference.
  • Experience with hardware development team leadership.
