Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is in search of a Power Electronics Engineer/Principal Power Electronics Engineer to become an integral part of our expanding design team located in Baltimore, MD. You will join Northrop Grumman's Power Conversion Technology design group, collaborating with fellow engineers to create cutting-edge power supplies and products for military applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute power supply design, encompassing simulation and analysis, schematic development, component selection, and printed circuit board layout.
  • Conduct technical trade studies.
  • Perform worst-case analysis and component stress evaluations.
  • Provide manufacturing support for hardware assemblies.
  • Develop Acceptance Test Procedures and conduct initial hardware checkout/testing.
  • Engage in a laboratory environment and support hardware production.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field (preferably Electrical Engineering) with 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D. with 4 years of practical experience. Consideration will be given to candidates with 13 years of applied experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Familiarity with basic isolated and non-isolated circuit topologies and control methodologies.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, LTSpice, SABER), MathCad.
  • Hands-on experience in power supply or power systems design and development.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Secret clearance (or higher).
  • Knowledge of power supply EMI/EMC filtering and design.
  • Experience with digital control systems.
  • Active power factor correction design experience.
  • Magnetic component design experience.
  • High voltage design experience (up to 200 kV).
  • Understanding of power-related Mil-Stds for power quality and electromagnetic interference.
  • Experience in leading hardware development teams.

This position typically follows a 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees to work nine-hour days from Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.

This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level clearance and/or SAP.

Salary Range: $127,000 - $190,600

The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may qualify for Long Term Incentives.
