SUMMARY

The individual in this role will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of structural metal components, including frameworks and casings for machinery, tanks, and architectural elements for buildings and bridges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing layouts and planning the sequence of operations.
  • Identifying and marking cutting and bending lines on materials.
  • Setting up and operating various fabrication machinery, including brakes, rolls, shears, and drill presses.
  • Shaping and finishing workpieces through hammering, grinding, and other methods.
  • Aligning, fitting, and welding components together.
  • Designing and constructing templates and fixtures for production.
  • Ensuring that workpieces meet specified standards.
  • Fabricating and assembling sheet metal products as required.
  • Operating machine tools relevant to fabrication processes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

OR

- One to three months of related experience and/or training

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively with groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, proportions, and basic geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
