Gildan is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation of environmental, safety, and health initiatives at designated facilities, promoting a culture of compliance and Zero Harm.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • On-call availability as needed

Educational Background and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related Physical Sciences with relevant EH&S coursework or certifications
  • 3 to 5+ years of pertinent experience

General Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of operational procedures to address basic issues and a solid grasp of interdepartmental dynamics
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve immediate challenges affecting the team and analyze data to inform decisions; adapt working methods based on established protocols
  • Leadership and Organizational Skills: Manage resources effectively; guide team members to achieve short-term objectives and prioritize tasks according to deadlines
  • Communication Skills: Offer guidance and training to team members; provide specialized information as needed
  • Decision-Making Impact: Daily decisions influence team operations and service delivery; serve as the primary contact for technical issues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current certifications in CPR/First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen Training
  • OSHA 30-hour, NFPA 70E, Confined Space, and Hazardous Energy Control training
  • Certification as a Fall Protection Competent Person

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and implement EH&S programs across various distribution facilities
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to execute action plans and ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies
  • Conduct hazard assessments and risk evaluations, including job safety analyses and pre-startup safety reviews
  • Facilitate training sessions on EH&S topics to promote compliance and engage employees
  • Participate in incident investigations and develop corrective actions
  • Coach personnel on essential skills and behaviors to maintain a safety-oriented culture
  • Conduct industrial hygiene evaluations to identify potential hazards
  • Assist in internal audits and compliance assessments
  • Support safety initiatives for contractors and construction activities
  • Maintain EH&S documentation and management tools
  • Develop personal objectives aligned with organizational goals
  • Engage in audits by external agencies as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Travel Requirements:

  • Most travel can be completed as day trips
  • Overnight travel may be necessary, estimated at 10% – 20%
