Work Schedule:

Educational Background and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related Physical Sciences with relevant EH&S coursework or certifications
  • 3 to 5+ years of pertinent experience

Core Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of operational procedures to address straightforward challenges and an awareness of how various business sectors interact
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and address immediate issues impacting the team and analyze data to determine appropriate actions; adapt working methods based on established procedures
  • Leadership and Organizational Skills: Manage resource allocation effectively; guide team members to achieve short-term objectives while prioritizing tasks based on deadlines
  • Communication Skills: Offer guidance and support to team members; provide specialized information and training as required
  • Decision-Making Impact: Daily decisions influence the operational effectiveness of the team; serve as the primary contact for technical inquiries and issue resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current certifications in CPR/First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen Training
  • OSHA 30-hour training, NFPA 70E, Confined Space, and Hazardous Energy Control training
  • Competent Person in Fall Protection

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of EH&S programs at multiple distribution facilities
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams and EH&S staff to implement strategies that mitigate risks and ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies
  • Conduct hazard assessments and risk evaluations, including job safety analyses and pre-startup safety reviews
  • Deliver training on EH&S topics to ensure adherence to legal and organizational standards while engaging employees positively
  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and develop corrective actions
  • Coach personnel at all levels on essential skills and behaviors that foster a safety-oriented culture
  • Conduct industrial hygiene evaluations to identify potential hazards and trends
  • Engage in internal audits and compliance assessments
  • Support safety initiatives for contractors and construction activities
  • Maintain accurate EH&S documentation and management information systems
  • Develop personal objectives that align with organizational goals
  • Participate in external audits and inspections
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Travel Requirements:

  • Most travel can be completed in day trips
  • Overnight travel may be required, approximately 10% to 20%
