Work Schedule:

Educational Background and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related Physical Sciences, along with relevant EH&S coursework or certifications
  • 3 to 5+ years of pertinent experience in the field

Core Competencies:

  • Thorough understanding of operational processes to address straightforward challenges and an awareness of how various business sectors interact
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve immediate challenges affecting the team, utilizing data analysis to inform decisions and adjust working methods as necessary
  • Leadership and Organizational Skills: Oversee resource allocation, guide team members, and ensure short-term objectives are met while collaborating effectively with colleagues
  • Communication Skills: Provide expert guidance and training to team members, serving as a resource for specialized information
  • Decision-Making Impact: Daily decisions influence the operational effectiveness of the team, acting as the primary contact for technical inquiries and escalations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen Training
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training, NFPA 70E, Confined Space, and Hazardous Energy Control
  • Certification as a Fall Protection Competent Person

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the enhancement and execution of EH&S programs across multiple distribution sites
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams and EH&S staff to develop and implement strategies for managing EH&S risks and ensuring compliance with Gildan's safety and environmental policies
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify hazards and mitigate risks, including job safety analyses and pre-startup safety reviews
  • Facilitate training sessions on EH&S topics to promote compliance and positively influence employee behavior
  • Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and formulate corrective actions
  • Coach personnel at all levels on essential skills and behaviors that contribute to a robust safety culture
  • Conduct industrial hygiene evaluations to identify hazards and trends
  • Participate in internal audits and compliance inspections
  • Support safety initiatives for contractors and construction activities
  • Maintain comprehensive EH&S documentation and management tools
  • Develop personal objectives that align with organizational goals
  • Engage in audits and inspections by external regulatory bodies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Travel Requirements:

  • Most travel can be completed as day trips
  • Overnight travel may be required, estimated at 10% to 20%
