Strategic Development Director for Civic Engagement

Seattle CityClub is seeking a highly skilled Development Director to join our team and support our mission to improve the civic health of the Puget Sound region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing our development efforts, including setting ambitious fundraising goals, developing and executing a strategic plan for growth, and managing relationships with key donors. About the Role:

We are seeking an individual who can think strategically, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in institutional philanthropy, strategic planning, and building long-term relationships with donors. They will also be able to prioritize development initiatives based on return on impact and investment.

Seattle CityClub is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs that bridge politics, sectors, and generations to inform and engage residents and community leaders. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute annual partnership plans to maximize partner visibility across our 25+ programs and events.
  • Develop and execute individual giving programs, including major gifts, annual donors, and planned giving.
  • Supervise full-time Development Coordinator and grow the Development team to support the organization's growth plan.
  • Serve as a responsible leader on the team and actively guide our culture of philanthropy and equity.

Requirements:

  • Authentic support of DEI values.
  • 10 or more years of relevant, professional experience in fundraising, events, institutional philanthropy, and non-profit board development.
  • Experience supervising at least one staff member in a supportive, coaching manner.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) plus benefits, including fully paid employee medical, dental, and vision insurance, a monthly Orca transit pass, and a retirement savings plan including 2% employer match after one year.
  • Four weeks PTO annually, plus the week between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day, and seven additional paid holidays.
