The Job

We are seeking a Guest Engagement Representative 1 to provide excellent customer service to our guests. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all visitors. Your duties will include:

  • Providing world-class customer service to guests entering, navigating, and exiting the museum
  • Supporting guests with questions, issues, and directions to enhance their experience
  • Collaborating with team members to create a safe and nurturing environment for all guests
  • Facilitating efficient and courteous cycling of groups through the Group Center lunchroom
  • Processing registrations and providing administrative support for school field trips and other visitor groups
  • Building relationships with Museum members and guests to encourage repeat visits
  • Participating in team meetings to create and discuss new sales tactics
  • Partnering with Guest Experience to ensure real-time traffic flow and positive museum experiences
  • Performing ticket and membership sales and returns, and processing all ticketing transactions according to Museum policies and procedures
  • Assisting guests with parking and maintaining the Museum garage facilities
  • Providing guest services such as coat check and wayfinding
  • Operating the Giant Dome Theater film screenings
  • Performing cashiering duties, including balancing monies through the ticketing system
  • Supporting Leadership team with stanchion set up/take down and maintaining department inventory
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED and one to three years of related experience
  • Consistent good attendance, timeliness, and guest readiness
  • Good people/interpersonal skills for dealing with guests and staff
  • Demonstrated strong customer service, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and listening skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize and satisfy the needs of guests and museum operations in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to work weekends and holidays, and some evenings
  • Ability to move large groups of people from place to place in a courteous and efficient manner
  • Curious to learn Museum content and culture and able to communicate that to guests in an engaging and inclusive way
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 20-25 pounds, stand for up to 2 hours at a time, and move safely throughout the Museum campus
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge, and comfortable with learning and using new software and hardware
