Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Veterinary Assistant to join our Community Medicine team at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). As a key member of our veterinary medical team, you will provide expert care to animals in need, working closely with our veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including medical procedures, animal handling, and monitoring of patients under anesthesia.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing clear and compassionate information about their pets' health and treatment options.
  • Assist with client intake, medical record-keeping, and data entry.
  • Collaborate with our veterinary team to develop and implement medical protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest veterinary medical techniques and best practices.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary medical experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40-plus pounds repeatedly throughout the day with assistance.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Fear Free Veterinary certification required within 60 days of hire.
