We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Care Specialist to join our team at Petco. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care and providing a positive experience for our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care through physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, as well as preventive care.
- Utilize a problem-based approach to develop complete problem lists, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plans, and treatments based on diagnostic test results.
- Document patient observations, findings, treatments, and diagnoses in a concise and detailed manner.
- Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
- Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and communicate effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
- Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License, if applicable.
- USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
