Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Psychology Intern to join our team at the Department of Mental Health in Los Angeles County. As a Clinical Psychology Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and learn psychological techniques in the field of clinical psychology.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in and learn to apply techniques and principles of clinical psychology in a formal training program
  • Learn the mission and functions of County institutions and their relationship to the community
  • Learn the purpose, methods, and related functions of the treatment program
  • Attend seminars, in-service training classes, and lectures to become familiar with various psychological and medical conditions and appropriate treatment services and functions
  • Participate in staff discussions of the applications of psychological principles and techniques and present case histories
  • Interview incoming clients, review medical and psychosocial histories, and prepare appropriate intake documentation
  • Administer and participate in the interpretation of a range of psychological, cognitive, developmental, aptitude, and vocational-interest tests for purposes of diagnosis, treatment, and providing vocational counseling
  • Participate in the development of psychological treatment plans and develop and maintain written client case histories integrating test interpretations
  • Provide supervised psychological counseling and psychotherapy to clients
  • Collect measurable outcomes data on clients receiving treatment
  • May participate in research-related activities appropriate to the institution
Requirements
  • Current enrollment in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
Working Conditions

This is a light physical class position.

Special Requirement Information

Candidates must provide proof of enrollment in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association with your application at the time of filing.

Eligibility Information

The names of candidates receiving a passing grade on the examination will be added to the eligible register and will appear in the order of their score group for a period of at least twelve (12) months following the date of eligibility.
